Wangeci Kanyeki has over 10 years experience as a Kenyan journalist with Standard Media Group, a leading media house, reporting on real estate property and interiors, business and entrepreneurial milestones and health and profile of women stories. She is also a Media Relations Strategist at Brand Spark PR, passionate about building credibility for African brands through the media where she connects clients to the Right media.
She is Head of Communications at Mavuno Church overseeing 30 campuses across 10 countries in Africa and Europe, in charge of content development and amplification using digital platforms on social media and website.
Education & Family
She has a Master of Arts degree in Communication (Media studies) from Daystar University and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Hons.) in Communications. With research interest in Children and Media and journalism, she has published a children’s illustrative book Hunt for Elijah, and a book chapter; Media Convergence in East Africa-A case study on Standard Media Group published by Springer in book titled Digital Transformation in Journalism & News Media. She has also published a book titled The Evolving Nairobi Street Names since the 1960s, a book which documents the history behind the Nairobi Street names since independence.
She is a member of Toast Masters International and also a member of the professional body of communication scholars and practitioners, the International Communication Association (ICA) and a Board member of the ICA Kenya Chapter. She is married to Willie Kanyeki for 23 years with whom she co-mentors married couples to build strong, resilient and joyful marriages. They have three uniquely gifted daughters Michy, Alisa & Muini.
